You know that very well how facebook influence politics in the real world. Everyone starts talking about politics on their wall and friends start pouring the post with comments and emoticons. Understanding the consequences and doing a lot of data research facebook came up with a new idea of launching a new petition feature called community actions.

Community Actions will be available to US citizens from 22nd of January 2019. It will enable users to add a title, description and image to there action. You could also tag different government agencies and officials who will receive notifications. The overall goal of Facebook is to make community action a viral feature and get users to hit the SUPPORT button. This might go in the right direction as expected but there is a huge chance perhaps it will go negative too.

Community Actions will have their discussion feed where people could create fundraisers, leave comments and organize Events.

Facebook is trying to make sure that community actions are focused narrowly on spurring government actions. Which might give you an idea that ooh…!!! I have signed few petitions. Yes that was on change.org

Will Facebook replace change.org?

The answer is No it will not because change.org is not just focused on government petitions it also has a wide variety of other petitions.

A Facebook spokesperson who gave this first look at Community Actions provided this statement:

“Building informed and civically engaged communities is at the core of Facebook’s mission. Every day, people come together on Facebook to advocate for causes they care about, including by contacting their elected officials, launching a fundraiser, or starting a group. Through these and other tools, we have seen people marshal support for and get results on issues that matter to them. Community Action is another way for people to advocate for changes in their communities and partner with elected officials and government agencies on solutions.”

The question will be is it going to be a new battlefield?
