I tried facebook ads after a long time thinking about it. But the CTR was very low for my ad not sure what could be the reason. But for my christmas campaigns I am thinking of testing adwords too. lets see how it would go ...

I have an account in Google Adwords but never tried to explore yet. 
Try posting ads in facebook and add more friends.
You can also post your ad in your email then send it to your friends. That would help.
best way do online marketing is search those keywords which are less competitive and huge in traffic and then bid on it on both google adwards and facebook try about 5 ads per keyword and track which one is performing well and stick to the one which is working well at the end..
